Bridal Style Tips: How To Travel With Your Wedding Dress

I have been hearing a lot of discussion on how to travel with your wedding dress on the plane. It’s not as scary as it sounds ladies! Here are some tips to get you and your gown across the clouds in the best shape possible.
1.) Make sure you reduce your number of carry on luggage. Most planes have closets available to hang wedding gowns, so you should always bring the gown onboard when possible
2.) If taking your dress on the plane is not an option, make sure your bridal salon can pre pack your gown in a dress box (which is usually free along with domestic shipping), if you are going to check your precious cargo.
3.) Always hang the dress inside a sturdy travel garment bag. Stuffing the dress with acid-free tissue paper or plastic dry cleaner bags helps the dress retain its shape. FYI, the bodice and sleeves are the areas most likely to suffer from crushing, so they should be stuffed until almost full.
4.) If you have some extra spending money, you can always pay for a seat for your dress and have it flying beside you in style. Be sure to buckle it in!
5.) 3)Upon arrival, always go for steaming your gown rather than pressing it. Know the materials your gown is made from to ensure the best care for it. If you have any tulle on your gown never press it and always steam. Upon arriving at your destination, unpack your gown and hang it immediately.
